Welcome to OpenBeast. Tell us about yourself.
Thank you for having me! Well, my name is Jamie and I’m a fashion blogger from Southern California.
What is “Bijou Minou” all about?
Bijou Minou is my personal style blog where I take pictures of my outfits and share my love for fashion. Fashion has always been an interest of mine, but it wasn’t until last year I really took the plunge and created a blog. Bijou Minou is really all about sharing my style and personal spin on fashion with the world. It’s really a great creative outlet for me and allows me to experiment with my style and explore new ways of interpreting trends.
Talk about your passion.
I’ve been interested in fashion since I was really really young… ever since I can remember, really. When I was little I remember playing dress up a lot, which is probably when it all began. I don’t remember how I exactly got into fashion, but my love for it probably stems from my desire to express myself creatively. I love the way you can mix and match different fabrics, textures, and colors in fashion, and how the possibilities are endless. There are always new trends to try and I always have a great time shopping. I love to combine my own unique personality to current trends and interpret them in my own way.
So how and where do your learn these new trends?
In terms of trends, I read a lot of fashion magazines like Vogue and Elle but I really draw inspiration from everything, including music, art, movies, celebrities, and even other fashion blogs! Another thing about trends are that what might look good on one person, might not look good on another. Fashion is all about personal expression and taking the current trends and making them into something that works for you. I mean, fashion wouldn’t be nearly as fun and creative if everyone looked identical to a page in Vogue, now would it (laughs)?
What is the one best fan comment or fellow blogger appreciation you can recollect?
I really have to say that I get so many great comments from my followers. I think one of the best things I’ve heard a couple of times is that I’m inspiring to my followers. It’s really a great feeling to know that you had an effect on someone and perhaps allowed them to think of fashion in another way.
Oh! Also, one time I mentioned I really wanted to try making macarons, but didn’t have a recipe. Almost immediately after that post, I got a bunch of emails from some of my fans, who all sent me their favorite recipes to try. I thought that was really sweet of them (smiles).
What is your unique style or likings?
I tend to keep my style really polished and really veer more towards classic shapes and clean lines. I’m somewhat minimalistic when it comes to accessories and don’t like piling on a bunch of jewelry. However, I LOVE statement pieces, like necklaces or rings or even shoes that can really add some dimension to an outfit. I also really love incorporating color into my outfits. You’ll rarely ever see me wearing black on the blog!
What are your future plans?
For the blog, I’d really like to continue to share my style with others. Other than that, I’m not too sure, although I will say that I’m welcome to any opportunities that might come my way!
For a beach vacation what one book and one snack you would take?
A beach vacation sounds so nice right now! I really love to read, so picking one book in particular would be a really hard choice, but any of the classics will do. And of course, I’ have a fashion magazine as well! For snack, I would probably have some frozen yogurt with some fruit toppings, since the beach is always so hot! Frozen yogurt seems like a refreshing choice!
