Interviewed by Stephen M. Thompson, Ph.D.
Welcome to OpenBeast. Tell us about yourself.
First of all, thank you for interviewing me. I’m Jelisaveta Đukanović, fashion blogger fromSerbia. I’m the author of Liberty Walk blog.
What is “Liberty Walk” all about?
Liberty Walk is the blog where I write about fashion, actually, about my personal style, and also about design. Few days ago I’ve made new part about travel and where I’m going to post pictures from my trips. My blog is my personal place where I show people my creativity, the place where I’m free to show people who I am and what I believe is correct and not others. That is the reason why the name of my blog is Liberty Walk.
Talk about your passion for fashion.
If I said that fashion had always been in my blood, I would have lied. After 8th grade of Elementary school I became interested in fashion with my sister Anđela who has Fashion bite blog and it took a lot of time for my style to become as nice as you can see it today. I don’t like when people say that fashion is shallow and that today you’re trendy and tomorrow you’re already not anymore, because that’s not true. The truth is that almost everything is always trendy; it only depends on style you’re following. So someone wears grandma’s clothes in vintage style, and other buy last collections of most famous designers. But still both of them are always fashionable. So how is that possible if fashion is only for one season?
So how and where do your learn new fashion and trends?
I don’t follow high fashion and I don’t get inspiration from some celebrity fashion icon. It may sound weird, but I’m my own biggest inspiration, it’s in my head where I create and make big plans for myself, my style and blog. It’s a place where I get ideas for my life and clothing, too. There are also other fashion blogs like Liberty Walk.
What is the one best fan comment you can recollect?
I get beautiful comments from my lovely readers every day and I can’t just choose one of them, but I really like when someone tells me that my blog, my style and everything I do is a big inspiration for her or him. That is absolutely the biggest compliment ever (smiles)! Sometimes I get critical comments which are also very important to me, because that is the best way for me to see what I’m maybe doing wrong and to correct it.
What is your unique style or likings?
I think that I am very young and that my style still is not exactly how I want it to be one day. It is not completely defined, that means that today you can see me in one fashion style and tomorrow the other. So the truth is that I am wearing what I like at the moment, but I strive to make my style as a mixture of elegance, uniqueness and casualness. I think I succeeded in that and that’s the direction I want to continue advancing my style in future.
What is your future plan?
My plans for the first year of blogging were very big for that time and I was working really hard and liked the result. My blog anniversary was on 10/04/2012, and now I’m planning to get more readers and to have better photos, because I know that if I have that, everything else will come alone.
Dogs or cats?
I love animals! I have a cat Điđi and he lives like a little king. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t like dogs, so I vote for both!
Thank you.
