The Brand “Megha Grover”

Megha Grover, a well know Fashion Designer, is the founder of Bollywood’s “Megha Grover: The Designer Store”. Currently also retailing to International stores, the label has set the runway of Jaipur International Fashion week, Kochi International Fashion Week and Dubai Fashion Week SS 2011 ablaze. At a very young age, the talented Megha has already been doing rounds of the Bollywood circuit. Essentially, India’s rich heritage and royalty translates Megha Grover’s thoughts into tangible ensembles.

Welcome to OpenBeast. Tell us about yourself.

Thank you. I am a young charged entrepreneur who is not scared to experiment; loves style and grace! A total foodie with a traveler’s soul. I love Colors, bright colors.

Describe your passion and how did you get into the world of showbiz?

Unlike most designer’s I have had humble beginnings. At a very young age I used to cut up my mom’s old sarees (Indian outfit), take it to the local tailor around the corner and make something for myself. Four plus years ago I turned the dining area of my house into my little workshop, I started with one pre-used sewing machine and a tailor, and since then there has been no looking back. One thing lead to the other (smiles). With the support of friends and family I launched my flagship store, and then did Runway shows within India, TV shows, Beauty pageants, Exhibitions, Photo Shoots, International fashion weeks. There’s been no stopping. Making clothes is my Drug and I admit I am an addict (smiles). In spite of being the fashion industry for over four years I would still like to call myself an emerging designer and will probably continue to do so for the coming years as well.

Tell us about your experience with SKR’s “Red Chilies”.

It was wonderful, always is a joy to work under a big banner.

What is your one best achievement thus far?

Six months ago, while watching International Fashion TV (FTV), I had told my mom, in five years I will feature here. And within 3 months, I was chosen to showcase at Miami Beach international Fashion Week 2012, where FTV wasn’t the official channel partner and they still came to cover my show. Seeing my collection at a platform which showcases the world’s best brands was definitely my biggest achievement

Any upcoming projects or initiatives you would like to discuss?

I love the women from United Arab Emirates and how they love to be covered and still so stylish. I am designing some abayas and Kaftans for the gorgeous beauties there. I am also excited about launching my Men’s wear line soon!

What are your leisure time activities?

I am not a TV person, if at all I am watching TV it’s probably FTV or a travel show. I love travelling. I am always happy to live out of a suitcase.
