Welcome to OpenBeast. Tell us about yourself.
I am a lifelong resident of St. Charles County. I have been married for nine years and have two beautiful children. I am active in our community and I strive to make St. Charles County a better community than what it already is.
Talk to us about the St. Charles County judgeship.
I currently preside over a family court docket. I enjoy working in the family court, not only because it was my area of expertise prior to taking the bench – but also because it allows me the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. The people and children who come before me are usually going through one of the most traumatic times of their life. It is very important to have judges on the bench who have both the knowledge and experience, but also the compassion needed for family court.
What would you consider as you one best achievement thus far?
My best achievements so far are my children.
Whom would you consider as you role model/s and why?
Now that I have two young children and I work full-time, I have a whole new appreciation for my Mom. My mom was a homemaker and somehow managed to give each of her four daughter special attention every day. I aspire to be the mother she was to me and my sisters.
Any upcoming initiatives or projects you could like to discuss.
I’m a board member of the St. Charles County Boys and Girls Club and the new Club building was just completed and it looks amazing. I know this new building will afford many kids opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have. That’s very exciting for us.
Quick message for aspiring women law students?
Keep pushing forward. Law school is a tough time, but the outcome can be so rewarding.
What are your leisure time activities?
Leisure time? Any leisure time I get is definitely spent with my kids. Every evening I make sure to take my kids on a walk and we talk about the day. It’s just a guaranteed alone time for me and the kids, which is a perfect ending to my day.
